Meet Stacey Suttie
Welcome to my corner of the 19th-century Cape, where the air is thick with the scent of wildflowers and the promise of adventure. Here, I share the stories that have lived in my heart for years—tales of resilient women, rugged men, and a love as boundless as the sea.
My Writing Journey
Stacey Anne Suttie is a Brisbane‑based historical romance author whose work is shaped by a lifelong love of horses, a deep fascination with human psychology, and the landscapes that raised her. Born in South Africa and later settling in Australia, she carries the Cape of Good Hope in her bones — its vineyards, its windswept fields, its wild beauty — and these places breathe through every page she writes. Her months spent on Isle de France (Mauritius) left an indelible mark: the island’s colours, rhythms, and quiet magic became the heartbeat of her fictional world and the spark that inspired her to begin writing her stories in earnest.
Stacey is currently crafting a sweeping trilogy following the Bloom family and their ancestral estate on the Cape, interwoven with the lush, storm‑bright world of Isle de France. Her novels explore the tension between duty and desire, the weight of inheritance, and the unexpected ways love takes root in difficult soil. Horses play a central role in her storytelling — not merely as creatures of beauty and power, but as symbols of freedom, loyalty, and the unspoken parts of ourselves we learn to trust. With a voice that blends emotional depth, atmospheric detail, and character‑driven intimacy, Stacey writes stories for readers who crave romance with heart, history, and a touch of wildness.
Inspiration & Research
My stories are born at the intersection of wild landscapes and forgotten history. To capture the authentic pulse of the Regency era, I immerse myself in the archives of the Cape, from old shipping manifests to private journals of the 1800s.
But research isn't just found in books; it's in the rhythm of a gallop across windswept shores and the scent of wild jasmine in the evening air. Whether I'm studying period costume or the rugged geography of the South African coast, my goal is to transport you to a world that feels as tangible as it is romantic.
